In Development Payments Infrastructure

NixPay

A payment integration and infrastructure concept to simplify payment processing for developers and businesses through API-based integration.

Overview

NixPay explores developer-oriented payment infrastructure, including M-PESA Daraja integration, merchant payment integration and an API-based architecture.

Problem being addressed

Integrating mobile money and card payments is repetitive and error-prone for developers, and each merchant integration tends to be rebuilt from scratch.

Why it matters

Simpler payment integration lowers the cost of building and running digital businesses.

Solution

An API-first layer that wraps payment provider integrations behind a consistent interface.

My role

Founder and product lead. I developed the concept and the integration work.

Challenges encountered

Payment providers differ in behaviour and error semantics, and payment work demands correctness and careful handling of failures.

Lessons learned

Payment code has to be conservative: reconcile, log and make failures explicit rather than assume success.

Future direction

Expand provider coverage and harden reconciliation. This is an evolving product: implemented integrations and planned capabilities are kept distinct.
