Live Commerce / Marketplace Platform

Supreonix Marketplace

An online marketplace platform with a large product catalogue, customer and seller accounts, cart and checkout, and integrated payments.

Overview

Supreonix Marketplace is an online retail platform serving customers in Kenya. It carries a catalogue of thousands of products organised into departments and categories, with customer accounts, saved lists, a shopping cart and a checkout flow, delivery location selection and order history.

The platform is built to be productised: the same commerce foundation — catalogue, accounts, cart, checkout and payments — is intended to be adapted for client deployments rather than rebuilt for each one.

Problem being addressed

Businesses that want to sell online in Kenya often start from a general-purpose storefront that does not handle local payment methods, delivery location selection or a catalogue large enough to matter, so they either build commerce from scratch or settle for a platform that does not fit.

Why it matters

Commerce infrastructure that already handles catalogue, accounts, checkout and local payments lowers the cost of getting a Kenyan business selling online, and lets that effort go into products and customers instead of plumbing.

Solution

A productised commerce platform: a structured multi-department catalogue with search and filtering, customer accounts with orders and saved lists, a cart and checkout flow, delivery location selection and integrated M-Pesa payment handling.

My role

Founder and developer. I built the platform, the catalogue and the checkout and payment flows, and I maintain it.

Challenges encountered

Catalogue data quality at scale is the hard part. With thousands of products loaded from supplier feeds, category labels are unreliable and product names carry full specification sheets, so search, filtering and de-duplication all depend on normalising the data rather than trusting it.

Lessons learned

At catalogue scale the data is the product. Cleaning and normalising product data took more care than the storefront code, and de-duplication had to be name-based because identifiers were already unique.

Future direction

Grow the seller and vendor side of the platform, improve catalogue curation and extend the checkout and payment options.
